Lifeguard / Swim Instructor

All former lifeguards, head guards, and swim instructors need to apply for consideration. There is no automatic rehire nor any guarantee of rehire.

Responsibilities:

  • Lifeguards - Execute cabana opening and closing procedures. Perform rotational duties which include office support and check-in, pools supervision and life-guarding, general cleaning of grounds and areas, and maintaining an orderly and enjoyable environment.
  • Head Guards - Same as above along with being the lead for shift and the accountable role for ensuring all tasks and assignments are completed properly.
  • Swim Instructor - Provide swim instructions to 1-3 children of varying levels of experience. Will be given a detailed Swim Lesson to follow for lessons. 

Requirements:

Lifeguard
  • Minimum age 15 1⁄2 years old at time of application
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications
Head Lifeguard
  • Minimum age 17 years old when position commences
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications
  • At least 2 seasons experience life guarding (minimum 200 hours)
Swim Instructor 
  • Minimum age 15 1⁄2 years old at time of application
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training OR WSI certification AND CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • WSI certification;  OR previous swim instructor experience; OR at least 3 seasons as a member of a swim team
  • Work with 1-3 kids in each group lesson
  • Lessons are offered in the afternoon (12-2pm) and early evening (4-6pm)
  • Can do lifeguarding as well as teach lessons
  • Starting rate $21.25/hour

Cabana Manager

This position is ideal for a MS/HS teacher or responsible college student interested in staying busy during the summer! 20-30 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and interview lifeguard staff and onboard them onto our payroll system.  (FEB-MAR weekends – couple of hours)
  • Perform certificate validations, orientation, and gap training.  (APR-MAY weekends – couple of hours)
  • Prepare the cabana facilities and services for opening weekend (Memorial Day).  (MAY evenings and weekends – couple more  hours)
  • JUNE through AUGUST:  Expect ~30hrs per week.
  • Prepare schedules and staff for 7 days per week 12-9PM operating hours.  (JUN-mid AUG)
  • Prepare schedules and staff for weekdays 4-9PM and weekends 12-9PM operating hours. (mid AUG to end AUG)
  • Prepare schedules and staff for weekends only 12-9PM operating hours. (SEP)
  • Ensure facilities, pool, and member services are organized, maintained, and operational.
Experience:
  • Prefer 1+ years of staff management experience or equivalent
  • Prefer knowledge/job experience in cabana and pool operations but not mandatory (can train)
  • Able to work with and manage teenage staff
  • Able to manage schedules, verify timesheets, and meet target budgets
  • Able to manage and direct recurring tasks and activities with reporting staff

Cabana Swim Lessons Manager

This position is ideal for a seasoned Swim Instructor. You coordinate with the Swim Lessons Director on a weekly basis and are in charge of Swim Lessons at the Cabana Club. Anywhere from 5-20 hours per week. As Manager, you are also required to teach lessons when available. Position runs from February to            Mid-August (end of Swim Lesson Season). 

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and interview swim instructor staff and onboard them onto our payroll system. 
  • Host Orientation and Training for Swim Instructors before season begins
  • Help answer questions and give feedback to swimmers and parents of swimmers 
  • Manage Swim Lesson program and track student progress
  • Provide advance swimmer private lessons/instruction
  • Prepare schedules and staff for the Season (End of May to Mid-August)
Experience:
  • Prefer 2+ years of swim instruction or coaching
  • Prefer knowledge of pool operations
  • Able to work with and manage teenage staff
  • Able to manage schedules, verify timesheets, and meet target budgets
  • Able to provide strong member/customer service and flexibility
