May 6, 2021 cabana update

The 2021 season is almost here!

We look forward to seeing our Almaden Cabana Club members for the 2021 swim season!  Our opening day is scheduled for Saturday, May 29th at noon.  You can expect the Club to continue to follow County Covid regulations as they evolve.  In addition we will also request members to read and accept our club's 2021 COVID-19 WAIVER by updating your account profiles, checking the waiver box and entering an acknowledgement/waiver acceptance date (you can read a preview here).

What to expect.

At this time, we anticipate a close-to-normal swim experience.  However, masks will be required for those members that are not in the pool. The pool will be available to members without a need for reservations.  Bathrooms will be accessible and chairs, tables and BBQ’s will be available for use.  Also, guests will not be allowed at this time nor will rental areas be made available.  If you have not yet paid your Cabana Club dues, please do so to enjoy your 2021 cabana season.

How is the cabana being readied?

We have been preparing staff and the Cabana pools, decks, and gardens  for the 2021 season.  We held a Spring Cleanup last weekend where mostly Dolphin parents volunteered to help ready several areas – thank you for your time!!  We still have other areas to complete so if anyone is able to volunteer, please contact our Facilities Director.

What about the construction?

We are delighted to announce that all of the major construction repairs and improvements have been completed!  We want to thank all of the local neighbors for their patience through the process and our core volunteer board and board support members that played a tremendous role in making the construction a success:  Daniela Derollo, Sam Raimondi, and Alex Ross – Thank you so much!!  To remind everyone, the key repairs and improvements were:  Re-plastering the Dive Pool, replacing the heavily cracked cement deck and adjacent areas up through the kiddie play area (where in a section we opted for turf for the kiddos), upgrading the pump house equipment to more efficient and manageable equipment and readying it for future Lap Pool repairs/improvements.  If you’d like to see images throughout the construction process, please go to this link.  If you’d like more details on construction costs, please join us at this year’s general membership meeting in July.

There’s no greater proof of the completed construction than having our Dolphin kids in the water training for their 2021 season.  The youngest started their evaluations last Friday and all other age groups are in full force trainings as of this Monday.  We are extremely glad that some level of normalcy will return for our members and more importantly, our kids.

When does EMAS start?

With the pool now ready and heated, Early Morning Adult Swim can start as well. To gain access to the pool for lap swimming, please sign the 2021 EMAS Program Waiver here.  The process and rules are similar to previous, non-covid, years (e.g. reservations are not required) but with added covid restrictions.  For any questions, please reach out to our volunteer EMAS Coordinator.

We are delighted to bring the Almaden Cabana Club 2021 season to you.  If you have any questions, please reach out to respective board members here.  If you would like to join the Board, please email the board president.
